This School Guide heat map has been plotted using official pupil data taken from the last School Census collected by the Department for Education. It is a visualisation of where pupils lived at the time of the annual School Census.

Our heat maps use groups of postcodes, not individual postcodes, and have naturally soft edges. All pupils are included in the mapping (i.e. children with siblings already at the school, high priority pupils and selective and/or religious admissions) but we may have removed statistical ‘outliers’ with more remote postcodes that do not reflect majority admissions.

For some schools, the heat map may be a useful indicator of the catchment area but our heat maps are not the same as catchment area maps. Catchment area maps, published by the school or local authority, are based on geographical admissions criteria and show actual cut-off distances and pre-defined catchment areas for a single admission year.

This information is provided as a guide only. The criteria in which schools use to allocate places in the event that they are oversubscribed can and do vary between schools and over time. These criteria can include distance from the school and sometimes specific catchment areas but can also include, amongst others, priority for siblings, children of a particular faith or specific feeder schools. Living in an area where children have previously attended a school does not guarantee admission to the school in future years. Always check with the school’s own admission authority for the current admission arrangements.

3 steps to help parents gather catchment information for a school:

  1. Look at our school catchment area guide for more information on heat maps. They give a useful indicator of the general areas that admit pupils to the school. This visualisation is based on all attending pupils present at the time of the annual School Census.
  2. Use the link to the Local Authority Contact (above) to find catchment area information based on a single admission year. This is very important if you are considering applying to a school.
  3. On each school page, use the link to visit the school website and find information on individual school admissions criteria. Geographical criteria are only applied after pupils have been admitted on higher priority criteria such as Looked After Children, SEN, siblings, etc.

School Description

The school is a welcoming and friendly community of pupils and staff. Pupils say good morning to visitors, hold doors open and are very helpful. They are happy, safe and cheerful. Staff know pupils well and care for them. Positive relationships exist between staff and pupils and among pupils. Leaders and staff want all pupils to succeed. Most pupils work hard to achieve their very best. Leaders link their plans to develop the school further to the trust’s values of ‘proud traditions’, ‘wide horizons’ and ‘high achievement’. Pupils speak confidently about these values and how they relate to school life. Behaviour is mostly positive in classrooms and around the school. Pupils understand the rewards for good behaviour and the consequences of negative behaviour. However, at times, some pupils do not always focus well on their work. Pupils have a clear understanding of the different types of bullying. They say that when it does happen, staff deal with it straight away. Many parents and carers speak well of the school. They value the high expectations and the range of activities available for the pupils. Some parents are not as positive about certain aspects, such as communication.

“Amazing!”

"> As a parent I feel I should write a review about Park Lane in Nuneaton as I am extremely happy that both of my children attend here. My oldest son has attended 3 schools in the last 3 years due to house moves. My youngest attends their nursery class and will start reception in September. I had a very bad experience with a local childminder recently and park lane recognised I was having problems. They have been nothing but supportive and offered a place for my son straight away. My oldest son is thriving with his school work and loves going to school. Miss Baraniak in nursery class is amazing and settles my youngest in she is so caring. The after school lady keeps me informed with everything and always reassures me and the reception staff who I am constantly sending email to always have time for me and help me on a regular basis. I have recently visited the school to look around and it is like nothing I have seen. So much thought has been put into it to make it a different type of school and exciting for the children. They even have two school dogs!! One of the things I find very good about the school is the littlest things. Free sports clubs and plenty on offer, affordable childcare breakfast and after school club, blazers provided for year 6 and book bags provided for reception children all of which you would have to purchase in other schools
