Halliford School Parent Reviews

Average Parent Rating

“Happy Parent”

This school is extraordinary. Every student is nurtured and treated as an individual. I could not be happier as a parent. Seeing our son grow into a decent and kind young man is the thing we value the most, and it has been money well spent. We would do it all over again without a moment’s hesitation.
“Brilliant School”

Such a brilliant school! With my son having just come through Halliford and achieved great results at A level I can honestly say choosing Halliford School was the best decision we made.
“A wonderful school”

It has been truly heart-warming to see our son coming home each day with a smile on his face, excited to share everything that has happened at school. As a parent, I never imagined school could bring so much joy, and I am delighted with the positive impact this environment is having on him. The school creates such a positive and enriching atmosphere for its students and we are hugely grateful.
“Excited for Halliford Journey!”

We are delighted our son has been offered a place at Halliford. We accepted this place without hesitation and he is looking forward to starting. Many thanks for ensuring the application process has been smooth and with as little stress as possible for our son.
“A huge Thank You!”

I wanted to write to say thank you for the lovely letter you sent with your offer – and particularly the letter you wrote to our son. Again, he was delighted and has it prominently displayed in his room. We realise that the competition for places is fierce and that there are a large number of applicants which makes the time and trouble you have taken over the letters even more impressive. It is much appreciated and, together with your conduct of the entire 13+ process, certainly backs up your message of treating each boy as an individual.
“Highly Recommend”

We were very pleased with the professionalism of the whole 11+ entrance experience managed by the school. Thank you once again for your excellent communication and the overall experience provided to our son.
“Impressive!”

We have not only been impressed with the school, the Headmaster and the teachers we have met but also the warm and clear communications during the application process from you and your team.
“Exceptional”

“Your admissions process has been the most personal and thoughtful in our experience, and a credit to you. Your school has proven to be exceptional in so many ways. Keep doing what you are as we are only hearing positives about Halliford out there.”
“A School that stands out from the rest”

“I wanted to say how wowed we have been by our experience of Halliford so far…every interaction we have had during the process with teachers, staff and pupils, has been extremely positive. Our son has received lots of offers from some great schools but our experience of Halliford stands out as a school that can offer both the academic side of the education we have been looking for and so much more besides.”
“5*”

“The school has such a special feel and my son said afterwards there is no school he would rather go to in the world!!”
“A positive experience”

“I wanted to write and thank you for the admissions experience we have had as a family in joining Halliford. We were made to feel special and valued, it was such a positive experience. When I was describing my experience finding my son a senior school place, a fellow mum asked me “Was that Halliford?” Her son is joining in Year 9 and she has had the same wonderful experience.”
“Very impressed”

Our son greatly enjoyed the tour with Mrs Clatworthy a few weeks ago and we feel that he would be very happy at Halliford. We were all impressed with the school’s excellence in sports, arts, and music, as well as the academic side.
“Excellent Sixth Form for Girls”

My daughter joined the Sixth Form in September 2016 and we are delighted with her progress. Having come from a large state school with good grades, she has excelled and is on her way to achieving outstanding ALevel results. This is helped by the small classes, the nuturing ethos and Halliford community that is apparent from day one.
“A wonderful environment to learn”

Halliford has been wonderfully supportive school which encourages and nurtures with a smaller environment with good teachers. It has a strong ethos without being a pressure cooker environment. My son excelled at GSCEs and has got some great A Level results and is about to embark on his place at University. I'd really say it's been a fantastically supportive place.
“A good school”

Our grandson has attended Halliford since Year 7, and will shortly join the sixth form. He has very much enjoyed his time in the school, finding the staff very approachable and supportive. The boys are treated with respect and expected to do the same in return. Obviously, as in any establishment, there are blips along the way, but we have always found that staff are available to contact, and any difficulty is addressed. He has benefited from his time at the school which has helped him to mature, be empathetic, and take on responsibility.
“Excellent school”

Halliford is an excellent school. My son is flourishing. He has been nurtured and challenged and is doing very well. The school is strict about behaviour, which I think is great. They manage to do this while letting the boys be individuals. It's a positive school and gets the best from the boys I believe. Highly recommend this school.

A WARM WELCOME FROM HEADMASTER JAMES DAVIES

Halliford is a warm-hearted School founded on strong family values where we are proud to know and be respectful of every student as an individual. Our theme ‘Come as you are. Go as all you can be’ perfectly encapsulates our mission to encourage and support Hallifordians to flourish and become the best version of themselves that they can possibly be. Our boys join us for their seven-year journey from 11 to 18 and we warmly welcome girls to join our well-established co-educational Sixth Form, which provides our senior students with the opportunities to excel in a more independent environment. Halliford is an incredible community to belong to and spend part of their only childhood.

We invite you to come as you are, not as what you think you should be. Halliford is a place of acceptance and diversity; not just in the form of representing our community, but in encouraging the passions, the curiosities, and the interests that drive people. We believe that people make life interesting, and Halliford School is a haven for interesting people.

Some things matter that little bit more to us. It matters that our families trust us with their most precious asset. It matters that our boys feel excitement and belonging when they put on their blazer, and that Hallifordians go on to be the best they can be.

To truly understand the distinctive culture and ethos of our School, we warmly invite you to visit us. I very much look forward to personally welcoming you to see for yourself if it is the right school for your child’s future education.

OUR ETHOS

The world for which our children are being readied has changed. That is undeniable. A preparation for life that is grounded solely in the statistical outcomes of grades and marks is just not enough anymore. Creating young individuals who function like computers, merely recalling information when prompted, holds little meaning in a digital age where vast knowledge often resides in our pockets.

Now, more than ever, our role is to nurture humanity - to cultivate good people. Our aim must be to help our children become the kind of individuals that the future desperately needs and seeks.

We proudly consider ourselves a small school, without any apologies. The advantage of our size is our deep familiarity with one another. We see and know each student beyond the crowd; no one ever gets lost here. Despite our size, we are well-equipped, both on-site and through extensive partnerships worldwide. We have the resources to deliver comprehensive and in-depth subject matter, and we will always strive to make the impossible possible if it benefits our students.

At Halliford, our boys and girls will consistently experience the reassurance that we are here for them, ready to listen and do everything within our power to help them achieve, and achieve they do.

If your family is looking for academic achievement delivered alongside both a breadth of experience and the moral compass the modern world craves, Halliford may well be a place to call home. Ours is a proudly successful school.

The cornerstone of that success - and of the Halliford community - is respect. A mutual respect for the abilities and interests of each other. We are unashamedly proud of our school, with students and staff proud to be a Hallifordian. It is the pride of belonging to something bigger than oneself, a pride that sees the Halliford hoodie still well-worn years later.

HALLIFORD SCHOOL NORMANDY D-DAY 80TH ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION VISIT

Nine students from Year 8 at Halliford School have recently returned from a truly unique experience in Normandy as part of the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings. Along with Headmaster James Davies and Mme Lamy from their French Department, they were hosted by the village of Rots just outside Caen which offered them a superb opportunity to experience French culture and to improve their language skills. Each day, they engaged in some truly memorable visits to various memorials and sites in and around the village and witnessed a re-enactment of the D-Day Landings on Gold Beach from current members of the Royal Marine Commandos.
