St. John’s on-the-Hill has been ranked amongst the ten best value Prep Schools in the United Kingdom by The Good Schools Guide in associasion with the Telegraph. The details of this can now be seen on the Telegraph website at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/primaryeducation/11866244/Which-are-the-best-value-prep-schools-in-the-UK.html
When the most important people in the world to you are your children, it is a difficult decision to choose the right school; whether that is in the area where you live, or whether you choose to send your child to board. Value comes into this equation and it is often difficult to quantify what we actually mean by it. It is certainly wrong to compare schools on monetary terms alone. I could write a huge essay about what makes St. John’s such good value but it is actually about the values that it instils in the children who come to us. The below post appeared on Facebook yesterday and I think it perfectly sums up why the school has received such fantastic recognition. As you would expect we are very proud to have received this accolade and it represents what a truly wonderful school St. John’s is.
‘Cost is of course a significant factor when considering ‘value for money’, and it is heartening to hear that St John’s is still extraordinarily competitive on that scale. In my opinion though, the best ‘value’ has to be judged on the integrity, happiness, determination and belief in self that the pupils take on into their teenage years and beyond, from that prep school foundation. St John’s was undoubtedly the best school for all three of my VERY different children; academically they were supported and thrived; the boarding environment gave my children such a wonderful mixture of genuine care and independence but most of all they were instilled with the ‘Spirit of St John’s’ …. a mark that has stayed with them in their mid-teenage (for one child) and early adult years (for the other two). Quite frankly the value of St John’s cannot be quantified in pounds sterling, it proves its worth by the integrity, the accomplishments and the good heartedness of the children who leave them.’
