This School Guide heat map has been plotted using official pupil data taken from the Pupil Level Annual School Census collected by the Welsh Government. The data tells us where pupils lived at the time of the last Pupil Census.

Our heat maps use groups of postcodes, not individual postcodes, and have naturally soft edges. All pupils are included in the mapping (i.e. children with siblings already at the school, high priority pupils and selective and/or religious admissions) but we may have removed statistical ‘outliers’ with more remote postcodes that do not reflect majority admissions.

For some schools, the heat map may be a useful indicator of the catchment area but our heat maps are not the same as catchment area maps. Catchment area maps, published by the school or local authority, are based on geographical admissions criteria and show actual cut-off distances and pre-defined catchment areas for a single admission year.

This information is provided as a guide only. The areas from which pupils are admitted to a school can change from year to year to reflect the number of siblings and pupils admitted under high priority admissions criteria.

School Description

All staff at Ysgol Llanedi work diligently to provide rich and valuable experiences for the school's pupils. Their strong links with the local community are a notable element of their work. They ensure that the school is an important focal point for the village. Pupils often take part in services and concerts in the local area, and in the agricultural show’s competitions. Members of the community visit the school regularly to help out, talk to pupils or enjoy the sports day. All these experiences ensure that pupils develop a strong sense of belonging to their local area. The acting headteacher leads with energy and a robust vision based on providing the best possible experiences for pupils. Staff and governors know their strengths well and prioritise improvements sensibly. Staff provide an exciting, broad and balanced curriculum that enriches pupils' experiences. They know each pupil well. This means that they provide work that sets a challenge for each individual regularly. Pupils' literacy, numeracy and digital skills are developing robustly. They apply their skills in relevant and purposeful activities that maintain pupils’ interest for extended periods. Teachers ensure that pupils receive regular written feedback, but this is not always effective in helping pupils to improve their work. Almost all pupils’ behaviour is excellent. They look after each other carefully in the classroom and on the playground, with the older pupils being extremely caring of the little ones. Pupils' positive attitudes towards the Welsh language are evident throughout the school. Governors play an active and supportive role, ensuring high and sustainable standards.
