Our heat maps use groups of postcodes, not individual postcodes, and have naturally soft edges. School Description

Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Castell-nedd is a designated Welsh-medium school that serves the Neath area in Neath Port Talbot authority. English is introduced formally at the school at the beginning of key stage 2. There are 312 full-time pupils on roll, and 72 part-time nursery children. Pupils are taught in eight classes in the Foundation Phase and six classes in key stage 2, and 14 teachers are employed, including the headteacher. Seventy-two per cent (72%) of pupils are from English-speaking homes, and therefore only 28% are from Welsh-speaking homes. Very few pupils are from an ethnic minority background and around 11% of pupils are eligible for free school meals, which is considerably lower than the national average. At present, around 11% of pupils are on the additional learning needs register and no pupils have a statement of special educational needs. The headteacher was appointed in September 2006 and the school was last inspected in November 2012. The individual school budget per pupil for YGG Castell-nedd in 2015-2016 is £2,896. The maximum per pupil in primary schools in Neath Port Talbot is £7,039 and the minimum is £2,718. YGG Castell-nedd is in 61st place of the 65 primary schools in Neath Port Talbot in terms of the school budget per pupil.
