“A wonderful school”

"> Unresolved bullying at another school was the reason we moved one of our daughters to Wimbledon High and she is now a completely different child: confident, happy with herself and her select group of friends. She is encouraged to develop her own individual skills and talents and is appreciated as the quirky and unique girl she is. Both of our daughters now attend the school and it offers an exceptional range of opportunities and recognises and celebrates talents in a whole range of pursuits not just academic. My children have always felt supported by their class teacher in junior school and form teacher in senior school. Yes, the girls there are academically minded, but any pressure seems to come from within and a work/life balance is actively encouraged. Staff are generally approachable, energetic and passionate about their subject. There is a relatively low turnover of staff, and many who move on are going to promotions elsewhere. Sports provision is improving, the music and drama is simply outstanding, art is of high quality and the academic results show good value added for the intake. I have taught in a number of girls schools and attended one myself and I do not sense the level of cliques and nastiness evident in other all-girl environments. It is a genuinely happy school, but clearly even the best schools don't suit everyone - there is always the potential for a cohort of children to be difficult due to the unpredictable mix of particular personalities. That said, any concerns my own children have raised on occasion have been effectively dealt with. No school is perfect, but this one has been pretty perfect for both my girls, who are very different in personality and academic focus!

U13 (YEAR 8) HOCKEY TEAM THIRD IN THE SOUTH REGIONAL HOCKEY FINALS!
A great result for our Under 13 hockey team! After a few injuries early on in the competition (held in Reading) the girls mustered on and came second in their group to the National Winners Daneshill. In the semi-final they were 0-0 against St. George’s and it went to penalty flicks. The tension mounted but it was not to be: St. George’s won on penalties and the National Finals eluded us. The girls were then determined to beat their rivals (finalists in the previous tournament), Kingston Grammar School, in the play-off. Again the U13s were victorious, to secure the position of 3rd in the South of England. Congratulations girls!
