School Description

Wallasey School is a smaller than average-sized secondary school with a sixth form. Most students are of White British heritage. The proportion of students supported by pupil premium funding (additional funding for pupils known to be eligible for free school meals, those looked after by the local authority and children of service families) is above average. The proportion of students supported through school action is broadly average. The proportion supported at school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is above average. The school has a number of awards including, for example, Healthy School status. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for students’ attainment and progress in English and mathematics. The school houses the Redgrave Centre, a resource unit for students with moderate learning or specific learning difficulties. Since the last inspection there have been significant changes in staff. The headteacher was previously the acting deputy headteacher for two terms before she was appointed as headteacher in September 2013. At this point a new acting deputy headteacher was appointed.
