Special schools provide a unique and distinctive educational environment to meet the needs of the pupils in their community. Undertaking standard tests may not be appropriate and we do not show performance data for special schools.

Leaders and staff are very ambitious for all pupils. They encourage all pupils to aim high. Staff provide pupils with expert support. Pupils try hard and are keen to complete the tasks that teachers give them. Staff develop close and positive working relationships with pupils. These relationships contribute to pupils’ sense of well-being and also help them learn better. For example, pupils enjoy asking questions of their teachers to find out new knowledge. Parents speak very highly of the care that staff provide for pupils. One parent, echoing the views of others, commented, ‘The staff that look after my child are very caring and compassionate.’ Pupils told inspectors that they felt safe and well looked after in school. Pupils are respectful towards staff and other pupils. Pupils seldom do or say anything that might be considered unkind. On the rare occasions that they do staff carefully explain why their words or actions were not appropriate. Staff take time to practise classroom routines with pupils. Because staff know each pupil extremely well, they know what is needed to calm them and make them feel better when necessary.

2015 GCSE RESULTSImportant information for parents
Due to number of reforms to GSCE reporting introduced by the government in 2014, such as the exclusion of iGCSE examination results, the official school performance data may not accurately report a school’s full results. For more information, please see About and refer to the section, ‘Why does a school show 0% on its GSCE data dial? In many affected cases, the Average Point Score will also display LOW SCORE as points for iGCSEs and resits are not included.
Schools can upload their full GCSE results by registering for a School Noticeboard. All school results data will be verified.
