“An outstanding school for academic, physical and emotional development”

I have 3 children at this school across early years, pre-prep and prep and have been with the school now for over 6 years. Without exception, the teachers are fantastic. I can’t praise the nursery and kindergarten teams enough for the introduction they provide to the joy of learning. They are so gentle and caring and provide an incomparable level of structure, stimulating educational activities and indoor and outdoor fun for the little ones. It is also where the groundwork for the deep level of understanding of each individual child’s personality and nature is laid, which is a continuing theme throughout their school lives and provides the best foundation for their academic progression. As they’ve moved from one year to the next, I’ve always found their teachers to be extremely supportive and responsive and the breadth of experiences and facilities they’ve had access to have been exceptional. The grounds and sports facilities are vast and beautifully maintained and even include indoor venues and a swimming pool. There is also a strong focus on music and drama and enormous importance placed on emotional well-being, which provides a wonderful all-round balance. All of my children have flourished academically and emotionally at St. Michael’s and, tellingly, always look forward to attending. My fourth child will be starting at the school this year and I wouldn’t consider anywhere else. I can highly recommend St. Michael’s to any prospective parent.
“Amazing school and happy children”

We have had 3 children at St Michael's: one currently in year 1; the eldest left in year 8. We have always been so happy with the care all of our children have had at school. All children are delft with as individuals they are nurtured to be inquisitive of the world around them. They are polite and have a mature view of life and are caring of the people and environment in which they live. My eldest is now 21 and has an amazing work ethic that was encouraged by staff. He realises how lucky he was to have such a happy school life. My youngest skips to school every morning and is enthusiastic about his day when I pick him up. I could go on about amazing grounds etc. You really must see it for yourselves It’s the best money we have ever spent.
“Excellent school with great facilities in beautiful grounds”

All 3 of my children attended this school from Nursery up to Y6. An amazing location with stunning views, from all over the school, towards the North Downs and superb sports facilities including indoor pool and astroturf. There is now a beautiful new pre-prep building and gardens and we found the teaching to be excellent across the school. We had 10 happy years here and all 3 kids looks back very fondly on all the fun things they did from charity bike rides & ski-ing holidays to the annual family camp-out. Most importantly they all did very well academically and still maintain wonderful friendships with their old classmates despite everyone going off to a variety of different day and boarding senior schools. The school creates a warm and nurturing place to thrive, study and grow and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a visit to see for yourself.

Vision and Ethos

Joy is at the heart of life at St Michael’s: the joy of our children, the joy of our community and the Joy and Wonder of Learning. St Michael’s is driven by a passionate belief in the value and power of learning: for children, for teachers, for parents and everyone who comes into contact with us.

St Michael’s is an inclusive school where each individual is known, valued and celebrated. We want our children to embrace each day and be inspired by their lessons and co-curricular activities.

We believe in providing a rounded education where children can pursue their passions, challenge themselves and enjoy a creative and innovative curriculum. We are continually looking for ways to improve our curriculum and facilities, making them more vibrant, inspiring and in step with our ever-changing world. Access to our 100 acre site plays an important role in the pupils’ learning and growth, developing them into mindful and knowledgeable citizens who will care for their environments throughout their lives.

Our growth mindset approach to teaching and learning ensures that every child understands the value of failure in their path to success. St Michael’s children are not afraid to get things wrong, or judgemental of others’ mistakes, and this is something they carry with them.

Our school motto: perseverantia, sapientia, gratia (perseverance, wisdom and gratitude) encapsulates our ethos of striving for success and using our skills to make a difference. These values are instilled daily throughout the St Michael’s journey.

We strongly believe that in order to teach our children about the importance of life-long learning, we must first model this ourselves. Our staff undergo regular professional development and parents are also invited to a range of workshops on relevant topics.

We are confident that when our pupils move on from St Michael’s, they will use the wisdom, skills and values that we taught them to make a positive change in the world.
