School Description

St Joseph’s Convent Preparatory School is a Roman Catholic independent co-educational day school which was registered in 1957. The last standard inspection took place in May 2016, when the school was judged to provide an inadequate standard of education. A progress monitoring inspection subsequently took place in November 2016, when the school was deemed to have met all of the independent school standards checked during the inspection. An interim headteacher was appointed following the previous inspection. The substantive headteacher was appointed in September 2017.

“Highly recommend this school”

Excellent school and wonderful teaching staff! Don’t be misled by the school gate area, there are tremendous space and facilities inside the school. Highly recommend this school!
“Amazing school”

My children couldn't be happier at this school. Not only are they surrounded by committed and attentive staff, they also have an inspirational leader as their Head teacher. They have achieved great academic success and they have an amazing array of extra curricular activities available to them, let alone their own playing field and swimming pool. The class sizes mean that they have great teacher/pupil interactions and the teachers can instantly pick up on the children's needs. The whole school system has been overhauled and improved beyond measure, as found by Ofsted's recent visit. If the Ofsted parent survey is anything to go by, most parents feel exactly the same way I do.
“Fantastic school! Visit it and see for yourself!!”

The School is now a wonderful place and is under the direction of a new headteacher. All the teachers have been working hard and this is reflected in the quality of learning the children are receiving and in their attainment. My children look forward to school everyday. It is a very safe environment and any bullying is immediately addressed and is not tolerated.
“Excellent school”

My daughter has done very well over the past 3 years since joong in early years. Cannot fault teaching standards and additional ballet, drama and music classes. No hesitation in sending my son in new year to join nursery class. Huge improvements each year, keep up the good work.
“Check Ofsted first”

My daughter went to this school in 2011. We had problems: she became withdrawn and depressed, not something you would expect from a previously happy intelligent girl in Year 6. We found the headmistress to be very unsupportive and we found ourselves without any option other than removing her from the school. That same year, three other children from our daughters class left the school also for the same reason. Today, we have just read a damning report by Ofsted citing concerns about bullying. We are so glad that something has been done about the on going problem which so many other parents and children have been suffering with this school, it is just a pity it has taken so long.
