School Description

St Helen's is a highly academic school set in over 20 acres of beautiful grounds. Pupils achieve outstanding results, going on to prestigious universities. In the Sixth Form, girls can choose from a variety of subjects at A level. ST HELEN'S SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS

11+ Entry

Academic scholarships to Senior School, worth up to 40% of tuition fees, are awarded annually at 11+. Scholarship awards are made on the basis of academic ability and are not related to family financial circumstances.

At 11+ entry, there is no additional academic scholarship exam: scholarships are awarded on the basis of the entry exam and interview, or, in the case of internal students who have been schooled in the Prep, recommendations from the Prep teachers and an academic scholarship interview.

In addition to academic scholarships, applicants can apply for the following scholarships and exhibitions at 11+.

Art Scholarship

The Art Scholarship offers up to a 30% reduction on tuition fees per annum and is awarded to students showing exceptional creative ability and potential. Candidates will be invited to submit a portfolio of artwork, and shortlisted candidates are invited to an in-person assessment day which will involve drawing from observation and an informal interview.

Music Scholarship and Exhibitions

At Year 7 entry a Music Scholarship, worth up to a maximum of 30% of tuition fees, plus free tuition on one instrument, is offered to an academically able candidate who is also an accomplished musician. It is recommended that candidates for the Music Scholarship are working at or working towards Grade 5 or above on one instrument. To apply for the Scholarship, candidates must submkit a short video of them performing on their chosen instrument, and then shortlisted candidates are invite to an in-person assessment day whihc involves playing on their first and second instrument(s) of choice and some sight reading and aural exercises. Evidence of a strong commitment to extra-curricular music at school is essential. A number of Music Exhibitions (free tuition on one instrument) may also be awarded.

Sport Scholarship

The 11+ Sport Scholarship offers up to 30% reduction on tuition fees per annum and is available to recognise strong sporting achievement and potential. Candidates will be invited to submit a portfolio of evidence of their sporting achievements, including a reference from their current Head of PE/Class. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to attend a practical assessment day which will involve a fitness test and the opportunity to perform in their sport. They will also be interviewed about their sporting interests and ambitions. In order to be considered for this award it is expected that the candidate has particular strength in a sport that is offered at St. Helen’s. Examples of such sports are netball, tennis, swimming, badminton or gymnastics.

Drama Scholarship

The 11+ Drama Scholarship offers up to 30% reduction on tuition fees per annum ansd is available to recognise and develop exceptional ability in drama and performance. Candidates must submit a short video of them performing a piece from a published play, and shortlisted candidates are then invited to an assessment day with the Drama Department.
