Special schools provide a unique and distinctive educational environment to meet the needs of the pupils in their community. Undertaking standard tests may not be appropriate and we do not show performance data for special schools.

School Description

Pupils like coming to this school. They are happy, and they feel safe. Each one of the three school sites is a welcoming environment. Pupils have a chance to get out in the fresh air by going to different places like local parks, cafes and shops. This helps to make up for the absence of outdoor space at some of the school sites. Leaders have high expectations of pupils. A new team are putting these expectations into place, but they need more time and training to do this well. Many pupils are placed at the school because they need extra help and understanding to manage their emotions. Most of the time, pupils behave well. If pupils do get upset or need help to manage their own behaviour, adults provide support in a calm and professional way. The school has grown in size very quickly this year. There are lots of new staff. Leaders are also quite new. This has meant that the plans leaders are working on need more time to become established. Relationships between staff and pupils are positive. Pupils say that bullying is not a problem at the school and they know who to talk to if they are worried about anything.
