“A very special school”

unlock
"> My husband and I thank our lucky stars we chose Royal High Prep, it’s lived up to every expectation and so much more. Being a small and homely school, each girl is nurtured as an individual. We couldn’t be more pleased with the leaps of progress our daughter has made both academically and in terms of confidence too. There’s a wonderful sense of belonging; each girl is cherished and feels she really belongs to the RHS family. We’d recommend it in a heartbeat, it’s truly a special place.
“Excellent from Prep to Senior”

unlock
"> From Day One, I felt like our daughter was in the right place at Royal High Prep; she has grown in confidence, made lovely friends and can’t wait to tell me about her day at pick-up time. It’s such a supportive environment and it’s been a joy to watch her thrive there. She was so excited to start at the Senior School this September!
“Our daughter has grown in confidence”

unlock
"> We have no doubt the GDST and RHB ethos of empowering girls to explore and try anything has given our daughter more confidence.
“Lovely school, feels like family”

unlock
"> We couldn’t be happier with how well our daughter settled into Royal High Prep School. She feels supported, inspired and the Year 1 group feels like a small family for her. It’s a joy to see her so confident and excited about each day!
“Highly Recommend”

"> As a father of two very different girls, I am delighted that we made the decision to send them to RHSB Prep at a young age. Our eldest was at risk of not reaching her potential but will soon enter Year 9 with two scholarships and absolutely adores every aspect of RHSB life. Her extroverted younger sister also couldn’t be happier, thriving in an environment where every girl is known and celebrated for who they are. RHSB really understand girls and we are delighted that, with hindsight, we made such a good decision so early on.”
“A school where each student is known and understands that they all have something to offer”

unlock
"> I have two daughters here; both very different in character and both with very different strengths and weaknesses, and yet the school caters to both of them, providing inspiring creative, academic and sporting opportunities, with lots of fun being had along the way!
“A caring and ambitious place for girls”

unlock
"> Initially we were unsure whether an all-girls school was right for our daughter but her confidence has come so far since she started last September. Our experience of the Royal High as parents of a year 7 girl is that it's not stuffy and very caring. The mental health initiatives are impressive and the mentoring and support from older pupils works very well. Girls seem free to be themselves. It feels like a very modern school with traditional high standards and results.

Meet the Head: Heidi-Jayne Boyes

The Head, Ms Heidi-Jayne Boyes, joined Royal High Bath in January 2025, and brings a wealth of 23 years’ experience to her role, having worked in both co-educational and single-sex schools. More recently, she was Head at Wakefield Girls’ High School for seven years, which became one of Yorkshire’s most outstanding schools under her leadership. Prior to that, Ms Boyes was a senior leader at Brighton Girls, GDST. She is therefore passionately aligned to GDST values and an advocate for girls’ empowerment, emotional intelligence, and inclusive leadership.

The school’s ethos of ‘girls first’ deeply resonates with Ms Boyes. She believes that a girls-only environment provides a unique space where young women can build the confidence to achieve without limits. Her philosophy is centred on empowering students to reach their full potential through a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters independence, confidence, and curiosity - and where students can become the architects of their own futures.

Who/what inspired you to become a teacher?

Schools are all about communities. To be able to contribute to creating a space where young people want to be, to learn and be their best selves was something I wanted to be a part of. The love of my subject, Geography, was borne out of the passion my A-Level teacher had for the subject, and I wanted to share the joy of learning – and being truly inspired and in awe of our world - with others.

What achievement are you most proud of as Head?

Well, being appointed as a Head is a very special moment and I am incredibly proud to have led, and be leading, a prestigious girls’ school. I am also incredibly proud that I see girls thriving in my school where they are free to be themselves and encouraged to be bold, confident leaders. The skills they gain here carry them forward in life and we see this in our amazing and diverse alumnae who work across many different industries and in varied roles – it is brilliant when you see what they all achieve.

What does a successful school look like to you?

A successful school is a happy school. A successful school is seeing smiles and positive interactions as you walk along the corridor or you hear conversation and laughter in the dining hall. It is also celebrating achievement and effort, seeing students grow, colleagues develop, and parents engaged. School is constantly evolving and we embrace this. Success is about listening to the voices of those within the school community and working together.

Wellbeing and the development of positive relationships are two themes central to the school's ethos. They’re at the heart of everything at Royal High Bath and the school prides itself on having a kind, positive and inclusive community where students feel fully supported to progress both academically and socially.

A successful school is where girls flourish through academic rigour, exploration, collaboration and risk-taking.

What is the most important quality you want every child to have when they leave your school? And why?

I want every girl to be intellectually and socially confident, workplace and life-ready with a global outlook and concern for others. Underpinning their ambition, hope, optimism and ‘can do’ attitude is kindness and empathy. As we know, people may forget what you say but they never forget how you make them feel.

Please give 5 words to describe the ethos of your school.
