School Description

As it looks forward to its centenary celebrations in 2019, Oakleigh House is reflecting on the changes in education and in the school itself over the last 100 years. Now part of a very successful global schools group Oakleigh House staff and pupils benefit from the opportunity to communicate with and work alongside schools from across the world, sharing best practice and educational thinking in 66 schools across 3 continents. Each summer, Year 6 pupils eagerly look forward to a visit to Barcelona to explore the city and visit the British School of Barcelona, part of the Cognita Schools Group. Having received an award for excellence in its recent Estyn inspection, the school’s Personalised Learning approach benefits all pupils.  Inspectors judged the quality of support for children requiring additional help with their learning as being outstanding.  Equally, the school has received the Challenge Award accreditation from NACE, the National Association for Able Children in Education.  The award recognises the school’s provision for its most able and talented pupils. Pupils are encouraged to develop a growth mindset with no limit to what they can achieve, striving always to be the best that they can be. All pupils benefit from the teaching of specialist staff in Music, Drama, Spanish and a range of sporting disciplines.  Sport plays an important part in the daily life of the pupils.  The netball team has had some amazing performances this academic year, and remain unbeaten and are through to the Swansea Schools Netball final. Outside the classroom, there are more than 20 clubs and activities available to pupils each week and many opportunities for pupils of all ages to take responsibility for themselves and others and develop valuable leadership skills. The staff nurture the emotional wellbeing of the learners and the traditional values of manners and respect are fundamental to the ethos of the school.  All of these aspects support the pupils’ character development meaning that pupils leave Oakleigh House confident, well-rounded individuals with the skills for lifelong learning in the 21st century. News, Photos and Open Days from Oakleigh House School

Last update: 04 September 2024
OPEN DAYS

During our Open Events, Year 6 pupils take visitors on a tour of the school and afterwards prospective parents have the opportunity to meet with Mrs Hill, Headteacher for refreshments.  A member of our friendly admissions team will also be on hand to answer questions about the admissions process and discuss the next steps.

We understand that it is not always possible for parents to attend pre-arranged Open Events. Therefore, we are happy to arrange Personal Tours for interested parents by appointment at any time during the school term. These tours prove very popular for prospective parents.  Arranging a one to one meeting with Mrs Hill, Headteacher, who is able to provide comprehensive information about the school and having a personalised tour is valuable in making the very important decision of where to educate your child.

Taster sessions or days, depending on the age of the child, can also be arranged. To arrange a taster session for your child please contact us on 01792 294083 or email [email protected]
