Maple Grove Infant School is an average-sized infant school with 260 pupils taught in mixed ability classes. Few pupils are of minority ethnic heritage and only a very small percentage of pupils speak English as an additional language. The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs supported at school action is below the national level. The proportion of pupils supported by school action plus or through a statement of special educational needs is average. Very few pupils have a statement or an education, health and care plan. The proportion of pupils eligible for support from the pupil premium (which provides additional funding for those children who are looked after by the local authority, or pupils who are eligible for free school meals) is broadly in line with the national average. The headteacher has been in post since September 2013; prior to this, she was the deputy headteacher of the school. The school currently has an acting deputy headteacher. There is an on-site pre-school facility which is the main feeder nursery for the school. This is not managed by the governing body and is inspected separately.
