“A vibrant community with a unique charm”

Leweston is a vibrant and supportive community that takes pride in its unique strengths and identity.
“Lovely, all-round school”

At Leweston there is a sense that creating well-rounded, content and confident children is paramount. My daughter is very happy there.
“An Excellent School!”

We have sent three children (and maybe a fourth one will come) to Leweston and we stand by your view that not only it is an excellent school, but it provides outstanding value for money education.”
“Highly Recommend”

I am so full of pride as I look at the young woman my daughter is becoming. Leweston has played such a special role in her guidance and direction, creating the assertive, independent, conscientious, confident and resilient person that I see. I am delighted and grateful that her school journey is being closely monitored. I feel confident that she is open to opportunities; academically, physically and socially. I believe that she is part of a community where she is forming strong friendships and is encouraged to be the best she can be

LEWESTON PENTATHLETES COMPETE IN WORLD BIATHLE AND TRIATHLE CHAMPIONSHIP

Six students from Leweston Prep and Senior School travelled to Bali from 2 to 5 November to compete in the World Biathle (run – swim – run) and Triathle (shoot – swim – run).

Day one of the Competition saw the Biathle Semi Finals with Reuben C, Josh H, and Jay C all competing well and going through to Sunday’s final in the U17 age group.

Leweston pupils all raced in the World Triathle championships on day two. In the morning, the U13 girls and U17 boys competed in the semi finals with Izzy K (U13), Reuben C, Josh H, and Jay C (U17) all making the final. They also raced in the Triathle mixed relay in the afternoon along with Izzy W (U17), and Lexie C (U11).

Overall our pentathletes finished with some fantastic results at the event. In the U11 girls, Lexie C finished in the GB Triathle with team Silver, in the U17 category Izzy W had a great race to take individual Bronze and team Silver. In the U17 boys Triathle, Reuben C, Jay C, and Josh H put in fantastic determination in their race, just missing out on a team medal to finish 4th. In the Biathle the U17 boys raced well with Reuben C and Josh H part of the GB Silver team and Jay C also racing the Biathle.

A big well done to all who competed, showcasing fantastic determination and resilience in a World Championship.

LEWESTON INTRODUCES EQUINE MANAGEMENT BTEC FROM SEPTEMBER 2024

From September 2024, Leweston School will offer the Equine Management BTEC in Sixth Form. Equine Management provides two different options: BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate (equivalent to one A Level) or BTEC National Extended Diploma (equivalent to three A Levels). Both qualifications offer an engaging programme to students who want a career in the equine sector as well as a range of higher education courses in equine management.

The school is delighted to welcome Sophie Underwood as the new teacher of the Equine Management BTEC course. Horses have been a constant thread throughout Sophie's life. From a young age, she spent countless hours in the saddle, rising through the ranks of her Pony Club. Her dedication led her to compete at the Horse of the Year Show, winning the Prince Philip Cup and gain recognition for her riding skills with a nomination to ride for Great Britain.

After leaving university, Sophie pursued a career in journalism securing a scholarship to write for "Your Horse" magazine. This exciting opportunity opened doors, allowing her to collaborate with renowned equestrian figures like Carl Hester and William Fox-Pitt. She further honed her skills by contributing to the development of "Your Horse Live," a major event in the equestrian world.

Senior (6)18 years ago, she embarked on a path to become a teacher. Her journey has been diverse, encompassing teaching and leadership roles in New Zealand, consultancy work for the University of Auckland, and most recently, acting as the head of a school in Hampshire.

Sophie says "A thrilling chance has arisen to combine my lifelong love of horses with my dedication to education. Introducing the BTEC in Equine Management at Leweston is such an exciting opportunity, which will provide a valuable springboard for aspiring students into the equine industry. With purpose-built facilities, we can offer an authentic and relevant curriculum that equips them with the knowledge and skills to succeed in the field they love".
