Highfield School is a special school that provides day education for pupils aged 11 to 19. The vast majority of pupils come from the local area and surrounding towns. All pupils have an education, health and care plan or a statement of special educational needs. The vast majority of pupils come from White British backgrounds, with a small number of pupils coming from a range of other ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Since the previous full inspection, the school has been subject to a one-day monitoring inspection.
