The school is larger than the average-sized primary school. The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs, at three pupils in ten, is above average. A higher than average proportion of pupils are disadvantaged and eligible for support through the pupil premium (additional funding for pupils known to be eligible for free school meals or in care). Almost all of the pupils are from Pakistani or Bangladeshi heritage. This is a much higher proportion than average. An above-average proportion of pupils speak English as an additional language. The 2014 end of Key Stage 2 results show that the school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress. This school became part of a federation with Prince Albert Primary School on 1 February 2014. From that time, an executive headteacher was appointed across the federation and each school has its own head of school. There has been a significant turnover of staff since the last inspection. A local authority review, and a report from the Government Standards and Testing Agency, both concluded that the Key Stage 1 and 2 test results prior to 2013 may not be accurate. Inspectors took these conclusions into account when assessing the data on the progress of pupils from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2.
