This School Guide heat map has been plotted using official pupil data taken from the last School Census collected by the Department for Education. It is a visualisation of where pupils lived at the time of the annual School Census.

Our heat maps use groups of postcodes, not individual postcodes, and have naturally soft edges. All pupils are included in the mapping (i.e. children with siblings already at the school, high priority pupils and selective and/or religious admissions) but we may have removed statistical ‘outliers’ with more remote postcodes that do not reflect majority admissions.

For some schools, the heat map may be a useful indicator of the catchment area but our heat maps are not the same as catchment area maps. Catchment area maps, published by the school or local authority, are based on geographical admissions criteria and show actual cut-off distances and pre-defined catchment areas for a single admission year.

This information is provided as a guide only. The criteria in which schools use to allocate places in the event that they are oversubscribed can and do vary between schools and over time. These criteria can include distance from the school and sometimes specific catchment areas but can also include, amongst others, priority for siblings, children of a particular faith or specific feeder schools. Living in an area where children have previously attended a school does not guarantee admission to the school in future years. Always check with the school’s own admission authority for the current admission arrangements.

3 steps to help parents gather catchment information for a school:

  1. Look at our school catchment area guide for more information on heat maps. They give a useful indicator of the general areas that admit pupils to the school. This visualisation is based on all attending pupils present at the time of the annual School Census.
  2. Use the link to the Local Authority Contact (above) to find catchment area information based on a single admission year. This is very important if you are considering applying to a school.
  3. On each school page, use the link to visit the school website and find information on individual school admissions criteria. Geographical criteria are only applied after pupils have been admitted on higher priority criteria such as Looked After Children, SEN, siblings, etc.

School Description

Grace Academy is an improving school. Many staff and pupils told inspectors how much the school has improved. A new principal took up post this term. Morale among staff is high. Leaders want all pupils to do well. Plans are already in place to ensure the school continues to improve. Leaders know that aspects of the curriculum need to get better. In the past, the school did not plan pupils’ learning well. This is now much better, but there remains room for improvement. Pupils still do not remember what they have learned as well as they could. Staff are now receiving better training. Leaders are confident that this will lead to further improvements. Pupils are happy. They say that they are well looked after and feel safe. Incidents of bullying are low. Pupils feel confident that staff deal with any incidents that do occur. Pupils know who they can talk to about any worries they may have. Most pupils now behave well in lessons and throughout the day. However, some pupils do not always behave well and sometimes disrupt learning for others.

"> Teaching standards are poor in my opinion and it appears as if they are not interested in hiring experienced teachers. I would expect much more after being in 'Special Measures' for most of the last 4 years. My child looks set to leave this school without even knowing their times tables. The school had their Parents evening last Wednesday. It came to my attention that 22 Ofsted 'Parent view' entries were made that afternoon which effectively changed a significantly negative review of the school into a very positive one! I have reported this extraordinary event to Ofsted and I'm awaiting the outcome of their investigation. Unfortunately, based on 4 years experience of dealing with this school, such an event does not surprise me at all.
“Fantastic School and Teachers”

"> Cannot stress enough how much the school and the teachers have gone above and beyond for our children. All the teachers are excellent and the work set is age appropriate and they offer a number of after school clubs and homework classes that offer extra support, do not be disappointed heartened by negative feedback for this school, it simply comes down to how much your child is willing to learn and the effort they put in, the teachers certainly give 100 % in helping and supporting, absolute thumbs up from us.
“Amazing Academy”

"> School is outstanding, Bullying isn't tolerated. Teaching is way above the standard I'd expect.
“Disgrace Academy”

"> In my experience this is an appalling school with sub-standard teaching and defective school management. Pulled my child out due to endemic, pack mentality bullying inherent within the school which the staff have never addressed. 1 star rating is the lowest I could set - should be zero. Latest head appears to be as ineffective as the previous one, who unsurprisingly was relived of his post due to "health reasons" shortly after last Ofsted report. Alledgely us taxpayers are still paying for his subsequent "further education" after his miraculous recovery post being kicked out, no doubt also with a full pension. Why doesn't uk education have the same level of professionalism, accountability and oversight as the private sector? The media state bankers are corrupt and have ruined this country but in comparison the ungoverned, substandard education within this city is just as destructive for our children's future. Avoid this school and leave it to drift away into the obscurity its staff deserve - it will never change and our kids deserve better.
