School Description

The school is much larger than the average-sized primary school. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress. The proportion of pupils who are eligible for the additional government funding known as the pupil premium is much higher than the national average. The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs supported through school action, school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is above average. Some of these pupils have speech, language and communication needs, while others have moderate learning difficulties. A small number of pupils have behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. Pupils come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Nearly half the pupils are of White British heritage. Children in the Early Years Foundation Stage are provided with two morning nursery sessions and three Reception classes. The number of pupils joining or leaving the school other than at the usual times is slightly higher than in most other schools. The headteacher took up her post in September 2012. A Strategic Teaching and Learning Coach was appointed in April 2013.

“Excellent!”

unlock
"> Excellent teaching and excellent pastoral care. Good special needs provision but also good support for all students. They foster genuine camaraderie among the children and friendships often continue even after going to separate senior schools. Each child reaches their full potential at Epsom Primary, whatever their starting point.
“Amazing school in Epsom”

"> This is an amazing school with many features that other schools don't provide. Many students have left this school and have gone on to get university places after being given a great foundation to their learning.
