The concentration of pupils shows likelihood of admission based on distance criteria

This School Guide heat map has been plotted using official pupil data taken from the last School Census collected by the Department for Education. It is a visualisation of where pupils lived at the time of the annual School Census.

Our heat maps use groups of postcodes, not individual postcodes, and have naturally soft edges. All pupils are included in the mapping (i.e. children with siblings already at the school, high priority pupils and selective and/or religious admissions) but we may have removed statistical ‘outliers’ with more remote postcodes that do not reflect majority admissions.

For some schools, the heat map may be a useful indicator of the catchment area but our heat maps are not the same as catchment area maps. Catchment area maps, published by the school or local authority, are based on geographical admissions criteria and show actual cut-off distances and pre-defined catchment areas for a single admission year.

This information is provided as a guide only. The criteria in which schools use to allocate places in the event that they are oversubscribed can and do vary between schools and over time. These criteria can include distance from the school and sometimes specific catchment areas but can also include, amongst others, priority for siblings, children of a particular faith or specific feeder schools. Living in an area where children have previously attended a school does not guarantee admission to the school in future years. Always check with the school’s own admission authority for the current admission arrangements.

3 steps to help parents gather catchment information for a school:

  1. Look at our school catchment area guide for more information on heat maps. They give a useful indicator of the general areas that admit pupils to the school. This visualisation is based on all attending pupils present at the time of the annual School Census.
  2. Use the link to the Local Authority Contact (above) to find catchment area information based on a single admission year. This is very important if you are considering applying to a school.
  3. On each school page, use the link to visit the school website and find information on individual school admissions criteria. Geographical criteria are only applied after pupils have been admitted on higher priority criteria such as Looked After Children, SEN, siblings, etc.

“OUTSTANDING!”

"> A college that works overtime to get to know your child, allows them to really be themselves and who takes pupil's confidence and nurtures it – in every way they can. Too good to be true? Go and see for yourself!
“Excellent school”

"> My daughter is just finishing year 10. Our decision to take her out of a very good school and take a chance on moving her to a school that Ofsted seems to rate as inadequate was a tough one to make but we have no regrets. Our daughter has thrived in this school - she is doing so much better academically and to be in an environment that values and celebrates creativity has seen her self esteem and confidence soar. Pastorally the school has been outstanding and we have finally found a school where we feel in partnership with a school to nurture our teenager through her school years. I highly recommend this school to anyone whose child would like to explore the creative media industries. There is excellent opportunities for work experience across the industry for those students that want to put the work in.
“Year 11 parents”

unlock
"> We are parents of a boy in Year 11 who is passionate about the school. He moved from the private sector in Year 10 and has never looked back since. The opportunities for students are endless and the tutors certainly inspire enthusiasm in our son. He looks forward to going to school and embraces the numerous choices he has with the many creative projects on offer. We find the environment at Elstree UTC exciting, vibrant, supportive and constructive for him.
“A College that Cares”

"> My son left mainstream school in 2016 to attend Elstree at just turned 14yrs. He was a quiet reserved boy who had little confidence in himself and his abilities. He was also unhappy in mainstream school and felt under a lot of stress in our ‘Excellent’ rated Ofsted local school. I do not regret for a single moment transferring my son from a local school to Elstree, the staffs unwavering focus to bring out the best in each individual is brilliant, they go above and beyond their roles. My son's confidence has increased ten fold and his grades have improved too, and more than that he enjoys going in each day. I commend the Head Mr Mitchell and his Principal staff for continuing in their goals for improvement, and in providing a safe and secure environment where each student knows they have a voice and their opinions and feelings are valued. The College has a wonderful atmosphere, laughter and music you will hear, for as well as subjects in the production and media industry, music and drama are key subjects too. I always recommend Elstree to all that I meet who say that their children are unhappy in school, and I will continue to do so.
“Something special!”

"> It is a rare thing to find a teaching establishment that believes in each and every one of their students as individuals, whose staff are totally committed to the young people in their care and who go above and beyond the call of duty. EUTC is vibrant and exciting. I am a mother of 7 and 3 of my children go here. All are very different characters, all have thrived and been inspired to achieve. I am not saying it is perfect but, when there are issues, you can communicate with the staff and they will listen and work with you to resolve any and all difficulties. Go and see for yourself. A wonderful nurturing environment, that bristles with excitement and allows each child to really learn and develop as a confident individual.
“Excellent performance by all students”

"> Just got back from seeing our granddaughter and her friends in their show 'Flicks'. What a fantastic evening. We thoroughly loved every minute of the show, the singing, dancing and comedy - we came away feeling proud and feeling elated. Every member of this talented cast was given their time in the limelight and none of them disappointed and when not front of stage they were all a truly supportive backup. All the cast and crew did an amazing job. UTC you have created real talent. Judging by the production and the attitude of staff and pupils, I have to give this school 5 stars.
“Great Young Adult Experience”

unlock
"> We choose EUTC two years ago for our son who had spent the majority of his education in the private sector. The teaching staff are committed to the students and it is a place where children can achieve anything they want to. Tt remains lacking in science resources but they do so well with what they have, and, any day you walk in, you become addicted to the healthy learning environment and enthusiasm visible in both students and staff.
“Multimedia students”

unlock
"> As a parent of a student, the college provides a great learning platform for students who wish to work in multimedia.
“Passion for the entertainment industry!”

unlock
"> My son has been at this school since it opened back in 2013. Okay, it might have had a few hiccups as any new school would experience. He left an excellent school to attend Elstree and he has done extremely well here. He has passed his GCSEs and is now sitting 4 A levels. If you have a passion for the industry and are willing to put in hard work, long hours and be very disciplined, then this school offers everything you need. In my opinion, it's just a few wannabes who have let Elstree down. There are so many talented kids there who work their shirts off. I applaud you. Keep up the good work. Thank you to all the talented teachers.
