Discovery Academy is one of three schools in the Macintyre Academies Trust. The school’s governing body is known as the local advisory board and reports to the Macintyre Academies Trust Board. The school opened in September 2015 with 34 pupils. The school’s post-16 provision opened in September 2017. The majority of students in Year 12 and Year 13 joined the provision on or after this date. The majority of pupils who attend the school are White British.

My son started this school this September. I know its only been 2 weeks but wow what a difference this school has made to my son. I have my excited and happy boy back – he even asked to go to school on Saturday.
He has just had to do a whole term in a main stream school who really did not understand him or his needs and he struggled and lost all his confidence, but now this is coming back bit by bit.
Thank you for making my son feel like he belongs.
On the morning of his first day, he had me in tears telling me is this school going to be okay mummy as I didn't do well in my last school but he said, 'I will be okay here.'
I told him yes of course but I didn't really know. But now I can confidently state to him, 'Yes, son, you will be fine.'
Thank you to all who work there keep up the amazing work you all do. The staff cannot do enough to help or support you.

2015 GCSE RESULTSImportant information for parents
Due to number of reforms to GSCE reporting introduced by the government in 2014, such as the exclusion of iGCSE examination results, the official school performance data may not accurately report a school’s full results. In many affected cases, the Average Point Score will also display LOW SCORE as points for iGCSEs and resits are not included.
