School Description

The school is an average-sized junior school. The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs supported at school action is below average. The proportion supported at school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is average. The proportion of pupils known to be eligible for the pupil premium, which provides additional funding for children in local authority care, pupils known to be eligible for free school meals and children from service families, is average. Most pupils come from White British backgrounds. The remaining few come from a range of minority ethnic groups but very few speak English as an additional language. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ achievement and progress. The school has a specialist resource base for pupils who have special educational needs, which currently caters for two pupils with autism. This is funded by the local authority. Pupils attend the base for two terms, but remain registered at other primary schools in the county. The school has been led by the deputy headteacher since September 2012, when the headteacher became ill.
