Cogan Primary School is in the Cogan area of Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan local authority. There are 206 pupils on roll between 4 and 11 years of age, organised into seven classes. It provides a safe, welcoming and stimulating learning environment for its pupils. The well-respected and highly-skilled headteacher leads the school confidently. She encourages her experienced and established staff to research and to try out new approaches, while at the same time maintaining learning experiences of high quality for pupils. This enables nearly all pupils to make at least good progress during their time at the school, and supports more able pupils to achieve high standards, particularly in writing.
