In recent years, staff have raised their expectations of pupils’ achievement. Even so, some pupils do not achieve as well as they should due to the uneven delivery of the curriculum. Some pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), forge positive relationships with their teachers. Pupils typically believe that they have trusted adults that they can go to for support. The school is strengthening its approach to help pupils foster positive attitudes towards learning. Many pupils are increasingly interested in their learning and they want to do well. In the main, pupils respond positively to the new behaviour management system. New routines have improved pupils’ conduct in lessons. Nonetheless, the updated strategies have not had the desired impact on the poor behaviour of a small number of pupils. The continued poor behaviour of these pupils makes some of their peers feel less happy and safe around school. The school has recently developed new opportunities for pupils to take on roles of responsibility. These leadership roles help to develop pupils’ resilience and respect for others. For instance, the resilience team enjoy supporting and mentoring Year 7 pupils to help them settle into school. Such positions help pupils to build their confidence to work with others across different year groups.

“Good School”

Very good school with good disapline and high expectations of its pupils. The size of the school is over come by good use of the house system. Any concerns are dealt with promptly and it is easy to contact staff to discuss issues. Exam results at GCSE are good.
“Not a Good School”

So OFSTED have been Dec 2017 and this school has went from a Good to Requires improvement . This is a dreadful result for the students and anyone who is thinking of sending their child there next year . You need to read the full report to get the full picture , The head must take full responsibility and the Governors who appointed him. instead of trying to blame the previous head who left in 2015 as he did in the Blackpool Gazette , Jan 2018 . The inspector noted that years 9-8 were the worst behaved of all the years , These years turned up since the new Head arrived this says it all. As a parent I can only say it is time that Mr Waller and his Senior leadership team went along with the Chair of Governors . Start a fresh and give our Kids the best chance at their one and only opportunity at a good education.

In many affected cases, the Average Point Score will also display LOW SCORE as points for iGCSEs and resits are not included.
