The concentration of pupils shows likelihood of admission based on distance criteria

This School Guide heat map has been plotted using official pupil data taken from the last School Census collected by the Department for Education. It is a visualisation of where pupils lived at the time of the annual School Census.

Our heat maps use groups of postcodes, not individual postcodes, and have naturally soft edges. All pupils are included in the mapping (i.e. children with siblings already at the school, high priority pupils and selective and/or religious admissions) but we may have removed statistical ‘outliers’ with more remote postcodes that do not reflect majority admissions.

For some schools, the heat map may be a useful indicator of the catchment area but our heat maps are not the same as catchment area maps. Catchment area maps, published by the school or local authority, are based on geographical admissions criteria and show actual cut-off distances and pre-defined catchment areas for a single admission year.

This information is provided as a guide only. The criteria in which schools use to allocate places in the event that they are oversubscribed can and do vary between schools and over time. These criteria can include distance from the school and sometimes specific catchment areas but can also include, amongst others, priority for siblings, children of a particular faith or specific feeder schools. Living in an area where children have previously attended a school does not guarantee admission to the school in future years. Always check with the school’s own admission authority for the current admission arrangements.

3 steps to help parents gather catchment information for a school:

  1. Look at our school catchment area guide for more information on heat maps. They give a useful indicator of the general areas that admit pupils to the school. This visualisation is based on all attending pupils present at the time of the annual School Census.
  2. Use the link to the Local Authority Contact (above) to find catchment area information based on a single admission year. This is very important if you are considering applying to a school.
  3. On each school page, use the link to visit the school website and find information on individual school admissions criteria. Geographical criteria are only applied after pupils have been admitted on higher priority criteria such as Looked After Children, SEN, siblings, etc.

School Description

Canary Wharf College Crossharbour is situated in the heart of the Docklands, on the door step of one of the UK’s main financial districts. We are a new, mixed, 11-18 school that opened in September 2016. The school currently has Year 7, 8 and 9 students and will grow each year until we reach full capacity. We have 161 students on roll; a further 81 places have been allocated for Year 7 entry in September 2019. Canary Wharf College Crossharbour is part of a growing Multi-Academy Trust. We are the third school founded by Sarah Counter. Canary Wharf College East Ferry (1), was established in 2011, and Canary Wharf College Glenworth (2), was founded in 2014. Both are primary schools educating children aged 4-11. The Trust is a friendly and welcoming community, made up of committed and experienced practitioners who are keen to collaborate, share knowledge and learn from one another.

“Let down for SEN”

unlock
"> I would like to make as many parents with SEN children aware of my experience in CWC. Being small in number of children, small size classes with assistants and confident appearing staff, this school seems perfect. I spoke to parents as well and got good reviews. But, in my experience, the school lets down the most vulnerable. Please do go on to the school's website and read all the policies very attentively. If your child's SEN does not fit match their criteria, the school won't do anything to help your child to fit in. Please, see other sites for more details , where several parents with SEN children have been vocal about CWC. It feels like the SENco has got little influence on the educational process here. Teachers won't go against the Head Principal, who is young and career driven and will never put her job on a line for your child. This school achieves good results partially by driving out unsuitable children that require more specialist care. For you it may mean that they can cause issues for your child or ruin what you have achieved already. This review is for secondary school. My advice for parents with SEN children: read policies, they should underline what they do for SEN children, if they don't the general policy will apply to you, and the school may not feel obliged to do anything different. Check also if SENco is a part of the senior management team, otherwise their recommendations may not be followed by teachers. Have a check which external agencies they work with as well. I would score this school minus if I could.
“What a great school CWC 3 is!”

unlock
"> What a great school CWC is! After completing her early years and primary key stage 2 in CWC East Ferry primary, my daughter moved to CWC 3 school last year. I am still impressed that the secondary school have such strong, dynamic and dedicated leaders, who have a clear vision of what they plan to accomplish. School staff is very nice and friendly, and the current curriculum and extra-curricular activities strongly helps the children to develop self-esteem, great knowledge, respect and empathy for other people. It’s good that the classes are small and that the school day starts at 8.30 am and finishes at 4 pm (or 5 pm if the child attends extended day activity). The school very modern building has truly remarkable facilities that I hope will allow our children to be creative, feel safe, develop and grow.
