Students who attend the school have special educational needs relating to behavioural, social and emotional difficulties. Most have experienced considerable disruption to their schooling in the past. All are boarders and are cared for by the local authorities that place them here. The school was first registered as an independent special school on 3 A ugust 2007 and last inspected by Ofsted in November 2008. The most recent inspection of the care provision occurred in January 2012.
