Beeston Hall School Parent Reviews

Average Parent Rating

“Review”

Though this small school does not have as many facilities as its competition, its relaxed, old fashioned approach allows the kids freedoms rarely found these days. It is perhaps a school for the new Brexit era. The school does not have endless rules and regulations and, in my experience as a parent, the kids grow up without the pressures found in other places where they have to sit indoors and do endless tests and homework. There is time for that later in life. The small top set do well but equally there are plenty of challenges for the ones who are less natural learners. The open grounds are not fenced in like some schools and they explore in the woods and feilds around. They love outings like going to the local beach to play in the pools and clamber on the cliffs looking for fossils. Every day they recharge with "little tea" of piles of multi colored cakes and biscuits. The children go to town on their own and they can't get lost as it is only a mile or so down the main road. Sport is central to school life and successful teams travel to matches and tournamants all round the country which is amazing considering how small the school is. Many of the children have known each other since birth and famillies have known each other for generations which makes a close community feel for children and parents alike, it is a county school through and through. Often non parents go to the open house when matches are on on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons to catch up with old friends and the children love it that people pop in to visit them. The PTA is strong and the school listens to what parents want for their child. I slightly agree with the other review that it is a easier place for a sporty boy. Another problem is many governors are/were parents and, on occasion, it seems they find it difficult to be objective.
