Independent preparatory schools do not have to follow the National Curriculum or submit test results to the Department for Education so there is no individual school performance data or star rating.

Visit the school's website to learn more about their unique curriculum, policies on testing and common leaver destinations (a good indicator of pupil progress). See our About page for information on Choosing A Prep School.

School Description

The Froebel Small School is a new school that opened in September 2010 in Uckfield, East Sussex on the grounds of Annan Farm. Already present on this site is the Annan Farm Kindergarten, which was inspected separately in 2009. Although the schools are separate, they share the same proprietors. Froebel Small School is a nonselective independent day school for boys and girls between the ages of five and 11 years. This was the school’s first inspection. At the time of the inspection, there were 23 pupils on roll in two classes of mixed ages: one for pupils in Years 1 and 2 and the other for pupils in Years 3 and 4. There are currently no pupils with a statement of special educational needs. The school ethos is ‘based on the pedagogy of Friedrich Froebel, following a holistic, theme-based approach suitable to each individual child’s age, ability and aptitude, with the intention of fostering an environment in which each child will work towards achieving their full potential. The school aims to foster each child’s concept of self esteem and confidence to enable him or her to become an autonomous, creative and original thinker’.
