The school is much smaller than the average-sized primary school, with three mixedage classes. There are very small cohorts. For example, at the time of the inspection, there were seven children in Reception and just one pupil in Year 6. Since September 2013, the school has been federated with John Keble Church of England Primary School under one governing body and an executive headteacher. Since the previous inspection, there has been almost a complete change of leadership and staff. The proportion of disadvantaged pupils is lower than is seen nationally. The proportion of pupils who have SEN and/or disabilities is higher than in most primary schools. The majority of pupils who attend the school are of White British background. A few pupils speak English as an additional language. There is much less cohort stability than in most primary schools. Almost all pupils on Inspection report: Ampfield Church of England Primary School, 19–20 June 2018 Page 9 of 12 roll travel from outside the village in which the school is situated. Many pupils join the school for a relatively short time during their primary education. Pupil stability is higher for children in Reception and pupils in key stage 1 than it is in key stage 2. In 2016 and 2017, there were too few pupils in Year 6 to judge whether the school met the government’s floor standards. The school provides a pre-booked after-school club that is run by the governing body.

“Great small school”

Ampfield primary school is a small faith school in the tiny village of Ampfield. It has small classes of mixed years and welcomes out of catchment pupils. Ampfield is Funded by Hampshire County Council and Federated (teamed) with John Keble up the road in Hursley. We value being part of the Federation because it enables access to resources and skills sharing across two schools for the benefit of both schools.
Since January 2020 we have seen really positive changes at Ampfield. These started with additional capacity and skills in the senior leadership team. This was followed by a re-organisation into the current class structure. In September 2020 our current excellent class teachers were appointed.
I value the Ampfield team’s commitment to maintaining a welcoming, stimulating and safe environment in which all pupils are treated as individuals.
As a parent and a governor I strongly recommend this school.

2015 GCSE RESULTSImportant information for parents
Due to number of reforms to GSCE reporting introduced by the government in 2014, such as the exclusion of iGCSE examination results, the official school performance data may not accurately report a school’s full results. For more information, please see About and refer to the section, ‘Why does a school show 0% on its GSCE data dial? In many affected cases, the Average Point Score will also display LOW SCORE as points for iGCSEs and resits are not included.
Schools can upload their full GCSE results by registering for a School Noticeboard. All school results data will be verified.
