 Allerton Bywater Primary School is a larger than average-sized primary school. The number of pupils on roll has increased, as the school is now a two-form entry primary school.  Children in the Nursery class attend school part-time and those in the Reception class attend school fulltime.  The proportion of boys at the school is much larger than that seen nationally.  The vast majority of pupils are of White British heritage. A very small number are from minority ethnic backgrounds.  The proportion of disadvantaged pupils eligible for pupil premium funding is higher than that seen nationally. This funding is for pupils in the care of the local authority and those known to be eligible for free school meals.  The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs is above average.  The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which are the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress in reading, writing and mathematics by the end of Year 6.  The school has several awards including the Sainsbury’s School Games bronze award and the Leeds Healthy Schools Award. It is working towards the UNICEF respecting rights award and Investors in Pupils Award.
