School Description

The school is larger than the average-sized primary school. There are two classes in each year group from Reception to Year 4. There are three mixed-aged classes in Years 5 and 6. The largest group of pupils is from White British families. The proportion of pupils speaking English as an additional language or coming from minority ethnic groups is below average. The proportion of pupils eligible for the pupil premium is above average. The pupil premium is additional funding for pupils known to be eligible for free school meals, children who are looked after by the local authority and other groups. The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs supported through school action is well above average. The proportion supported at school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is below average. The school meets the government’s current floor standard, which sets the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress. The school operates its own breakfast club. A new headteacher has been appointed to the school and he will take up his post in January 2014. During the autumn term 2013, the deputy headteacher has been the acting headteacher. There has been significant change in the membership of the governing body since the time of the last inspection.
