The Grange School became a sponsor-led academy within The Shrewsbury Academies Trust on April 1 2013. It is smaller than the average-sized secondary school. The very large majority of students are from White British backgrounds. The proportion of disadvantaged students supported through the pupil premium (which provides additional funding for looked after children and those known to be eligible for free school meals) is above the national average. The proportion of disabled students and those who have special educational needs is above average. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for students’ attainment and progress in English and mathematics at the end of Year 11. A very small number of students attend alternative provision part time or full time through the Education Development Service, Telford. The school receives support from a National Leader of Education who is also the executive principal of The Shrewsbury Academies Trust.
