School Description

Clara Grant is much larger than the average-sized primary school. A little less than three quarters of pupils are supported by the pupil premium. This is higher than found nationally. This is additional government funding to support pupils who are known to be eligible for free school meals or are in care. In this school, it applies to pupils eligible for free school meals The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs supported through school action is below the national average. The proportion of pupils supported at school action plus or with a statement of special educational need is below the national average. A much higher than average proportion of pupils do not speak English as their first language. Pupils are mainly from Bangladeshi backgrounds, with a small proportion from African and British heritages. In 2013, the school met the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress in English and mathematics. The school has experienced a significant turnover of staff in the last two years.
