School Description

Sunrise Primary School is a non-selective independent school for pupils aged between two and 11. The school opened in 1987 and is owned by the Sunrise Education Trust. The chair of the management committee is the headteacher. In December 2012, the school was judged to be satisfactory, having failed to meet a number of standards concerning safeguarding, health and welfare, and behaviour management. In June 2013, following a monitoring visit, the school was judged to be making good progress, with many of these standards being met. Inspection report: Sunrise Primary School, 2–4 October 2018 Page 7 of 12 In July 2017, the school was judged to be inadequate, having failed to meet a number of standards concerning safeguarding, curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment, and leadership and management. In March 2018, a progress monitoring inspection took place where the school was judged not to be meeting all the independent standards that were checked during the inspection. The leader’s vision is to provide a neo-humanist education, which encourages a universal human society. There are three classes in the school. There is one class in the early years, one for Years 1, 2 and 3, and one for Years 4, 5 and 6. No pupils currently have an education, health and care plan. There are no pupils currently in alternative provision. The management committee fulfils the role of a governing body.
