School Description

The school is a little smaller than the average primary school. Children in the early years provision (Reception class) attend full time. About one in seven pupils are eligible for the pupil premium. This proportion is a third less than the national average. The pupil premium is additional funding for pupils eligible for free school meals and those who are looked after. One in six pupils is disabled or has special educational needs. This proportion is broadly average. The school meets the current government floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress. The school runs an out-of-hours learning activities club. The last section 5 inspection called for an external review of the work of the governing body. The review resulted in the removal of the governors’ powers. These have subsequently been restored. There are many newly appointed governors, including the Chair of the Governing Body. The school receives support from a National Leader of Education. Since its last section 5 inspection, the school has received two monitoring inspections in April and October 2013. These visits checked on the school’s progress.
