St Peter’s is a middle, deemed secondary school, significantly smaller than the average-sized secondary school. The vast majority of students are White British. The proportion of students from minority ethnic backgrounds is above the national average. The proportion who speak English as an additional language is broadly average. The proportion of students eligible for the pupil premium is below average. This is additional funding for students in local authority care, those known to be eligible for free school meals and children from service families. The proportion of disabled students and those who have special educational needs supported through school action is above average. However, the proportion supported at school action plus or with a statement of special education needs is below average. The school does not offer any alternative off-site provision to its students. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for students’ attainment and progress. A new headteacher joined the school in September 2013.
