School Description

This is a smaller than average-sized school. Most pupils come from White British backgrounds. The proportion of pupils eligible for support through the pupil premium (additional government funding for children in the care of the local authority and for pupils known to be eligible for free school meals) is below the national average. The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs supported at school action is below average. The proportion supported at school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is also below average. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress. The school is currently being led by an acting headteacher. The school is preparing to become a sponsored academy from 1 October 2014. The sponsor, approved by the Department for Education, will be the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust, supported by the Casterton Business and Enterprise College. The acting headteacher will be leaving the school at the end of the summer term 2014. An executive headteacher has been appointed to lead the school from September 2014. Since the last inspection, the school has been supported by a National Leader of Education from Witham St Hughs Academy.
