School Description

The school does not meet requirements on the publication of information about the impact of pupil premium funding, curriculum information, and details about how further information relating to the curriculum can be obtained. The school is much larger than the average-sized primary school. The number of pupils has increased year on year since the previous inspection. The proportion of pupils supported through the pupil premium is much higher than the national average. The proportion is over twice the national average. Over half of the pupils are from minority ethnic groups. The proportion of pupils who do not speak English as their first language is well above average. The proportion of pupils who have support for special educational needs and/or disabilities is well above average. The proportion of pupils with a statement of special educational needs or an education, Inspection report: Richmond Hill Primary School, 10–11 January 2017 Page 11 of 14 health and care plan is well above average. There is a specialist resource unit in the school providing for a maximum of 24 pupils with autistic spectrum disorder and communication needs. In the early years, children have part-time education in the Nursery and full-time education in Reception. The school organises a breakfast club for pupils. In 2015, the school did not meet the government’s current floor standards, which are the minimum expectations for attainment and progress in reading, writing and mathematics by the end of Year 6. The proportion of pupils joining or leaving the school at other than the usual times is well above average. There have been significant changes in leadership and teaching staff since the previous inspection. The headteacher was appointed in September 2014 as was the deputy headteacher.
