Independent preparatory schools do not have to follow the National Curriculum or submit test results to the Department for Education so there is no individual school performance data or star rating.

School Description

Redehall Preparatory School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged three to 11 years. It is situated in a Victorian church school building which was originally the site of the local primary school. It was opened by teachers and parents in 1980 following the relocation of the previous school. The school is a smaller-than-average-sized primary school. There are 85 pupils on roll. Children in the Early Years Foundation Stage are admitted into the Nursery class on a full-time or parttime basis. The school accepts government childcare funding for three- and four-year olds. There is one Reception class. Class sizes are small. All classes are in single year age groups. The proportion of disabled pupils and those with special educational needs is below that found nationally. No pupils are in the care of the local authority. The school runs a breakfast club and a homework after-school club which is managed by the trustees. Redehall’s vision is ‘Engaging Lives, Inspiring Learning’. The headteacher took up her post in September 2014. The school was inspected under section 162A of the Education Act 2002, as amended by schedule 8 of the Education Act 2005 in September 2011. A progress monitoring inspection was carried out in February 2012.

“Highly recommended independent traditional school”

We discovered this great little school on an open day visit. We have 2 children that started recently and both have settled well into the school and are making excellent progress. The teachers are committed and dedicated and the small class sizes mean that the children benefit from a huge amount of individual attention that we believe they would never receive in a state school. The school has a friendly family atmosphere and my children could not be happier. I cannot recommend this school highly enough.
“Redehall Preparatory School”

Sadly, due to poor leadership from the Board, this once brilliant school is heading into the abyss. Don't be fooled by the low school fees. In my experience as a parent, sending your child to a state school would be a far better option, financially and educationally.
“A traditional small school, with happy pupils, parents and teachers”

In July 2012 my family toured the school at short notice, having been invited by the school secretary. We were relieved to find a lovely environment for our children as until then we had struggled to find a flexible option for us and a stimulating, happy nursery for the children. The secretary was so welcoming and the teachers would do all they could to make sure parents and pupils were content. Our children are now in Years 1 and 2 and are very happy in class and their attainment exceeds the national average in all areas. I would recommend Redehall School for it's friendly atmosphere, amazing theatrical performances, academic achievement and 100% secondary school entry pass rates.
“Brilliant School”

This is a fantastic little School & Nursery, with wonderful staff, who are very caring, promoting family values and is a very happy environment for all. My two children have been at the school about 6 months now – they both joined the nursery. My daughter is very happy and settled instantly (first day)and my little boy who is 3 (summer born boy) and in the nursery quickly settled within 2 weeks. Both children have developed fantastically: my son has already developed a flair for languages and knows numbers up to 10 and all colours in Spanish as well as his full English alphabet. He can also count up to 40 already. My daughter (just started reception few weeks ago) is writing very well and going from strength to strength everyday. Both children are very happy and love going to school which makes my job as a parent a lot easier!
“A fantastic school near Gatwick airport”

Brilliant little school, in which my children have flourished. Fantastic teachers that give the children one to one attention so that each child's needs are catered for. All of my children can read, write and do maths really well. The school endorses good manners and creates a very happy environment for the children.
“A good school”

The school is delightful, my daughter could not wait to return. The teachers are the strongest the school has seen. The building is cute with wooden beams and old fashioned desks to retain the character of the building and classrooms are large - you will need to see it to believe. Classes are small and I am impressed with the 1:1 teaching we receive. We find our child is confident and all children have excellent manners - this school gives a good grounding for life. Pupils numbers are low and this is a shame, it is the counties best kept secret.
“Fall in Standards”

This school has the potential for being a very good independent school, however, since the new head teacher was appointed around 18 months ago, an environment has been created that many parents do not want their children to be in. Numbers have declined to almost half of what they were and, in my opinion, the education standards have dropped. However, the head has recently ceased to be the head teacher so perhaps the school can thrive again.
