School Description

The school is larger than the average-sized primary school. Children in the two Reception classes attend full time. Elsewhere, pupils are taught in three groups or ‘phases’ of three classes each. Years 1 and 2, Years 3 and 4, and Years 5 and 6 are each taught in three mixed-age classes. Most pupils are White British. The proportion of pupils supported by the pupil premium is below the national average. The pupil premium is additional funding for pupils who are looked after by the local authority or known to be eligible for free school meals. The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs is below average. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for attainment and progress in reading, writing and mathematics by the end of Year 6. The school has been through a period in which there has been an unusually high turnover of teaching staff. Five of the 11 teachers are new to the profession and the school, and another experienced teacher is new to the school. Three other classes have different teachers now from the start of the academic year. The school operates extended day care: in the morning from 7.45 am until the start of school, and in the afternoon from the end of school until 6pm.
