Newland School for Girls is a smaller than average-sized school. The proportion of disadvantaged students (those supported by the pupil premium) is well above average. A nearby school has been supporting the mathematics department this year. In 2013, the school met the government’s current floor standard, which is the minimum expectation for students’ attainment and progress by the end of Year 11. The new headteacher took up her post in January 2014.
