School Description

Millbrook School is much larger than the average-sized primary school. There are two classes for each age group. This includes Nursery provision for children who attend part-time. Most pupils are of White British heritage and few pupils speak English as an additional language. The proportion of pupils supported through school action (pupils who need extra help) is average. The proportion of pupils supported at school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is below average. The proportion of pupils eligible for free school meals is lower than that found in most other schools. The school receives additional funding, known as pupil premium, for these pupils. This funding is based on the number of pupils in local authority care, pupils from service families and those known to be eligible for free school meals. The school meets the government’s floor standard, the minimum levels expected for pupils’ attainment and progress. The school does not use any alternative provision for its pupils. The local authority replaced the school’s governing body with an interim executive board at the start of February 2013. The school’s previous inspection judged leadership and management to be inadequate. The school was given a notice to improve.
