This is a special school for pupils with severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties. The proportions of disadvantaged pupils eligible for additional government funding, called the pupil premium, and those from minority ethnic backgrounds are above average. All pupils have either a statement of special educational needs or an education, health and care plan. The headteacher is the substantive headteacher of a nearby special school. He has been in post as the interim headteacher at this school since September 2014. Plans for the two schools to amalgamate are at an advanced stage, following a successful period of public consultation. After the last inspection, an interim executive board (IEB) replaced the governing body. In recent months, a shadow governing body has been established which is due to take over from the IEB in the very near future.
