School Description

This is a much smaller than the average-sized primary school. The number of pupils on roll has risen from 28 at the time of the last inspection. In 2012, there were 36 pupils on roll. Pupils are taught in two classes, one for children in Reception and Years 1 and 2, and the other for pupils in Years 3 to 6. The school became subject to special measures in January 2012; since then a new headteacher and teacher have taken up post. The vast majority of pupils are from White British backgrounds. A very small proportion of pupils are from a variety of minority ethnic backgrounds, and very few of whom speaks English as an additional language. The proportion of pupils known to be eligible for the pupil premium (pupils known to be eligible for free school meals, looked after children and pupils from other groups) has risen considerably since the last inspection and is now broadly in line with the national average. The 2013 figure is a significant increase on that for 2012. The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs supported through statements of special educational needs or at school action plus is more than double the national average. The proportion of pupils with special needs supported at school action is smaller than average. There has been a significant influx of new pupils to the school in the past twelve months. There were seven pupils in Year 6 in 2012 and two in 2013. In accordance with Ofsted’s guidance, the report avoids identifying individual pupils.
