School Description

The current headteacher has been in post since January 2014. The governing body was reconstituted in September 2015, replacing the previous interim executive board. The numbers on the school roll have dropped since the previous inspection. As a result, the school is now smaller than an average-sized primary school. The proportion of pupils who are disadvantaged (eligible for support through the pupil premium) is above average. The pupil premium is additional government funding to support the learning of those pupils who are known to be eligible for free school meals and those children who are looked after by the local authority. The proportion of pupils from minority ethnic groups is below average. The proportion of pupils who speak English as an additional language, however, is above average. An above average proportion of pupils have special educational needs or disabilities or have an education, health and care plan or statement. The proportion of pupils who join or leave the school at times other than the start of the school year is higher than the national average. The early years provision comprises part-time Nursery classes and full-time Reception classes. The school does not make use of alternative provision. The school meets the government’s current floor standards, which are the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress in English and mathematics.
