School Description

Haydon Training Independent School in Aylesbury was established in 2003 and is part of Haydon Training Business College. The school is an independent mixed day school which provides an alternative education and vocational training for disaffected students aged between 14 and 16 years who have either been excluded from their sponsor mainstream school, or are at risk of being excluded. The school aims to prepare students to be ready and willing to engage in either further education or employment and to prepare them for adult life. The school provides students with work experience placements through links with the local community and the careers advisory service. Students are referred either by a local authority or their host schools; they join at any time of year while in Year 10 or Year 11. Students attend the school for varying lengths of time, depending on the agreement with their host school or the local authority. There are currently 21 students on roll aged between 14 and 16 years who attend on a part-time basis. There are no full-time students on roll in the school. One student has a statement of special educational needs. The school was last inspected in January 2008. The proprietor has sole responsibility for the governance of the school.
