This is smaller than the average-sized secondary school. It has a technology specialist status. Most students come from a White British heritage, with around 8% of students from several minority ethnic backgrounds, which is much lower than average. The proportion of students who speak English as an additional language is much lower than average. Apart from those who are new arrivals to the country and to the school, no other students are at an early stage of speaking English. The proportion of students known to be eligible for support through the pupil premium, which is additional funding given to schools for certain groups, such as looked after children and those known to be eligible for free school meals, is much higher than average. The proportion of disabled students and those who have special educational needs supported at school action is high. The proportion supported through school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is also high. A very small number of students in Years 10 and 11 attend Central College in Nottingham for part of the week. The school does not meet the government’s current floor standard, which set the minimum expectations for students’ achievement.
