Independent preparatory schools do not have to follow the National Curriculum or submit test results to the Department for Education so there is no individual school performance data or star rating.

School Description

Excel Preparatory School is a very small independent day school located in the London Borough of Haringey. The school opened in 1993 and was registered in March 2005 to provide education for pupils aged between three and 13 years. The school had its first full inspection in November 2010 when it was located in the Selby Centre, in North London. The proprietor subsequently relocated the school to its current premises without informing the Department for Education (DfE) of this material change beforehand. An unannounced emergency visit was carried out in February 2012, which found that the school had changed premises. The school informed the Department for Education of its change of premises in the spring term 2013 and another unannounced emergency visit was carried out in May 2013 at the current premises. This inspection coincided with the school’s relocation to new premises in Brixton, in the London Borough of Lambeth. The school was closed to pupils during the inspection. The school currently provides full-time education for six pupils aged between four and a half and nine and a half years old. No pupil has a statement of special educational needs. Only one pupil is of Reception age. The school has not admitted Key Stage 3 pupils in the last few years and does not intend to do so in the near future. The school’s aim is ‘to create a happy environment which fosters cheerful, motivated and interested children who have not only confidence in their own abilities but also a considerate awareness of their peers’.
