The school is slightly smaller than the average-sized primary school. The proportion of pupils from minority ethnic backgrounds or who speak English as an additional language is higher than the national average. There are 17 languages spoken at the school. The proportion of pupils supported through school action is higher than the average. The proportion of pupils who are supported by school action plus or who have a statement of special educational needs is the same as the national average. The number of pupils who are eligible for support through the pupil premium is higher than the national average. (The pupil premium is funding to support pupils known to be eligible for free school meals, children from service families and children who are looked after by the local authority.) The school meets the government’s current floor standards which set the minimum expectations for pupils’ attainment and progress. Since the last inspection a number of teachers have left the school and a significant majority of teachers are now new to the school. This includes the appointment of three Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) this year. The senior leadership team has expanded to include two additional senior leaders as well as the experienced headteacher and deputy headteacher who were both in post at the last inspection.
